Dr. John Berland was raised in Long Island, New York and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from The Florida State University in 2020. During his time there, he participated in research at the Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine which sparked his interest in optimizing health and human performance.
Dr. Berland then graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2023. While completing his degree, he perfomed extensive research in orthopedic injuries and injury prevention. Dr. Berland is passionate about improving patient comfort, function, and injury prevention to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Dr. Berland was always fascinated with sports and human performance. In New York, he grew up competitively competing in soccer, baseball, and lacrosse throughout the Northeast Region.
Outside of work, Dr. Berland enjoys to exercise, explore new restaurants, adventure to new destinations, seek opportunities to express his creativity, and spend quality time with his friends, family, and dog.

John spent a tremendous amount of time at Florida State University’s Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine, a state-of-the-art research laboratory dedicated to optimizing health, body composition, and human performance. ISSM is a collaborative effort between the College of Health and Human Sciences, FSU Athletics, College of Medicine, Nike, and its founding Partner, Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic. Since its establishment in 2010, ISSM has conducted studies on populations ranging from elite athletes to clinical populations. John served FSU students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars through laboratory experiences and internship opportunities. He played a vital role in the institute’s vision is to be the top authority in human performance, nutrition, and sports medicine globally.
